Information For Authors
We would like to thank all our authors for their contributions to ISWCS this year, and our session chairs for assisting in the presentation of their work. We have provided some brief guidelines for those taking on any of these roles. Please familiarise yourself with them so as to help ensure the smooth running of the sessions.
Authors Of Conference Papers
- Each paper is allocated 20 minutes that should be used for the presentation, questions and answers, and the handover.
- Please ensure that you are present at your allocated session 15 minutes before its start, in order to introduce yourself to the chair and give time to prepare presentation files for display.
- Please introduce yourself to the session chair, who will be present at the front of the presentation room.
- For use of the data projector, the preferred method of presentation is to use the Windows PC present in the conference room. Technical support will be on hand if any assistance is required to transfer your presentation onto it.
- Use of external laptops is possible if required, although to assist with the smooth running of the sessions and minimise delays in changeover we would recommend that the equipment provided be used wherever possible.
Chairs Of Technical Sessions
- Please could you arrive at your assigned session at least 20 minutes before its start, to give time to greet the authors and be ready to start upon time.
- Ascertain the authors and greet them.
- Assist authors in transferring their presentations onto the system. Liaise with the technical support staff to assist them in this process.
- As far as possible, ensure the proper running of the session to its timetable, and that all authors receive their alloted time of 20 minutes (for the presentation, questions and answers, and the handover).
- Field questions from the attendees. If no questions are forthcoming offer a relevant one yourself. If time permits, initiate brief discussion with the authors about their work.
Authors of Posters
The display boards provided will have a height of 2.13m and the width is 1.22m. Therefore, we will accept posters of up to A0 size (1.189m x 0.841m), to aid visibility and allow sufficient space for our labelling. Either portrait or landscape orientation may be accommodated. The recommended format is to print a dedicated poster as one single sheet or otherwise as a series of smaller sheets (e.g. A3 size) if printing larger posters is a problem. We will also accept a series of A4 Powerpoint or PDF slides (in the event of problems with printing) but would prefer a dedicated single-sheet poster if at all possible.
Chairs Of Poster Sessions
- It would be appreciated if you could be present throughout the session, and make yourself known to presenting authors.
- Engage with authors and attempt to facilitate discussion between poster authors and attendees.
